Proverbs 27:3

Stone is heavy and sand weighty, but a fool's [unreasoning] wrath is heavier and more intolerable than both of them. Wrath is cruel and anger is an overwhelming flood, but who is able to stand before jealousy?
(Proverbs 27:3-4 AMP)

I came across this Proverb in my reading today and was completely blown out of the water. Someone, I don’t remember who, had compared the carrying of certain kinds of people who have fallen because of their own choices which they continue to make, thus they are in the truth sense of its meaning, unrepentant, akin to “Walking with rocks in your pocket. “ Here this text is saying that the burden taken on by those associated with a fool in his anger is more oppressive then the combining of “rocks” and sand. In fact the weight is crushing. Yet greater still in its crippling effects of jealously/envy.

I looked up the Hebrew word translated here in English as fool and this is what I found. Pay close attention to the transliteration.

In Strong’s:

H191 (Strong’s Number)
אויל 'ĕvîyl
ev-eel'
From an unused root (meaning to be perverse); (figuratively) silly: - fool (-ish) (man).

In the Brown-Driver-Briggs’ Hebrew Definitions we have:

H191
אויל
'ĕvîyl
BDB Definition:
1) be foolish, foolish
1a) (substantive)
1a1) of one who despises wisdom
1a2) of one who mocks when guilty
1a3) of one who is quarrelsome
1a4) of one who is licentious
Part of Speech: adjective masculine
A Related Word by BDB/Strong’s Number: from an unused root (meaning to be perverse)

I have a question to believers. If we have associated ourselves with the “fools” described in this Proverb, then we have “yoked” ourselves to someone or some group that will effectively stop us from being effective in God’s Kingdom because we have yoked ourselves to someone who is not yoked to God, thus we are being pulled away in the wrong direction. And their strength is such that unless God shatters that yolk we will allow them to take us to a place where we don’t want to go.

Either way we will in effect sever that relationship by way of us uncoupling ourselves from that yoke or God shatters it. Could I be grieving over a relationship that is leading me down the wrong path when God has unyoked me from that oppressive situation? Yikes!!

Grace and peace and keep thinking about what you are reading. Don’t shoot your brains out.

Mike, thanks for keeping this going. You're a daily encouragement to my walk and although you may not get much feedback, people are praying for you and this ministry you provide. I love how you called out "In Jesus Name". I grew up in a house where this was just expected and no matter how small the mean or snack, I bless what the lord has provided. There are those around me that think I'm weird, but the Lord knows. Take care my brother!

Today's Bible read in Ezekiel sounded very similar to our state of mind and ways going on in our nation to this day with the election...people's hearts and sin entering and not keeping what the Lord has given true to our heart. We need to be careful what heavy burdens we carry and what we store in our hearts.
Amen..prayers for our great nation
