So we were studying that last sunday night at church, 'they died without receiving the promise'. If you get deep into the Word, it doesnt just imply they didnt receive the promise on earth, but when they died, they didnt descend into heaven right away. They were kept in kinda a 'holding room' if you will. Like in Luke 16 when it talks about Lazarus dying and being comforted by Abraham. He was being comforted in the fact that Jesus was to come and they would enter into heaven's glory. This place was called Paradise, not heaven until Jesus died and rose and got the victory. it also speaks about Paradise when Jesus said to the thief on the cross, "today you will be with me in paradise". (i always thought he had meant heaven...not so). The righteous were in one chamber and the unrighteous, (ie. the rich man who died after Lazarus) in another. There was a gulf seperating the two but they saw each other, that is why the rich man in torment, cried out, Send Lazarus here that he may dip his finger in water and cool my tongue. But Abraham told him Lazarus could not cross the gulf, (nor could those in torment cross the golf).

Christ's resurrection, His provision into heaven was the Promise. Jesus Himself didnt descend into heaven til after His resurrection.

Below is a painting of Enoch being taken up to heaven by the Italian painter Sebastiano Ricci (1659-1734):

Funny one--Sebastiano Rico "took Enoch up to Heaven".

My Mom was an English teacher, so this verse "stood out to me!!

I want to say I praise the Lord when things are good and thinga are bad however I know many times I slip just like Judah and don't stay the course. The wonderful thing is that in the end: God wins..matter what we think our story is..when we do connect ourself with the Father..his ending is our ending..have you read the end of the book? God wins! So do we..when we trust in Jesus

The faith chapter! So glad I didn't miss and came back to today! Such good stuff. Love hearing about these men and women and the faith they had in things that were to come but yet in their children and children's children lifetime. Also they knew that this was not their home. God has eternal place to forever stay.

Very priestly Psalm today. In the line of a great King of course! I love when the Lord speaks in figurative language..The Lord said to My Lord..He is stating his claim and his authority on heaven and earth! Beautiful 😍

I used to work 38 miles away from home and did Herbalife. So before work I would either have exercised or had energy tea and shake and was too pleasant to some rather unpleasant people. I remember one of my coworkers telling me one time: don't poke the bear! So true
